Chlorination Certificate FAQ

What is a chlorinate certificate?

A chlorination certificate does what it says on the tin – it certificates that chlorination has successfully been completed, and water systems are now disinfected. We provide detailed, accurate chlorination certificates nationwide for water tanks, cooling/process systems, water down systems and new mains. They aren’t only made to produce details of what is done and how, but are also distributed to adhere to legislation, showing that British Standards (BS8558:2015 or PD855468:2015) have been considered whilst chlorination took place.

Why do I need a chlorination certificate?

As per above, adhering to British Standards is mandatory when it comes to commissioning water systems. Chlorination certificates are needed to produce evidence and information on the most recent chlorination works in your water system, to certify the water has been recently disinfected and cleared of potentially harmful bacteria such as Legionella.

Chlorination certificates are provided with pictures, evidence of measurements precision by us at WHS.

How long does it take to get a chlorination certificate?

Generally the certificate of chlorination can be provided on the day of the job if you are on a tight schedule. All our certificates are digitally created from information gathered by the engineer at the time of the job. This uploads to our management software and a detailed PDF chlorination certificate is produced for distribution to our client.

For new mains chlorination certificates we generally wait until the required laboratory samples are returned
