Cleaning & Chlorination of Boosted Water Tanks
Boosted mains tanks are present in many buildings, often office and apartment blocks and are generally used like an incoming mains supply, providing water for the whole building, including drinking water. They are used where pressures or flow may not be adequate from the external incoming mains supply.
As all outlets within a building will be fed via the boosted mains tank including all drinking water outlets it is vital that tanks are regularly cleaned to maintain water quality.
The BS8558:2015 states that cisterns (tanks) feeding drinking water outlets should be cleaned at least annually to maintain water quality.
