Double Volume Flush
New main flushing is normally performed after the swabbing and pressure test and is designed to remove taste and odour issues from the pipe and light particulate matter that may have passed through the swab and been left in the pipe.
We undertake double volume flush as experience has shown that this is the most effective in ensuring a first time pass result. This step can be time consuming and is often skipped by less professional companies but it an essential step to mitigate against taste and odour issues and other failures.
Not only is double volume flushing essential but so is proving it. We don’t rely on just a volume flushed figure written down on a certificate but provide proof through volume calculations and photographs of water meter readings to fully prove double volume flushing.
This step is hugely underestimated in obtaining a connection, especially where the Water Authority require a taste and odour sample. Even where a small service connection is involved it is good practice and ensures that there is little chance of microbiological failure.
Beware companies who skip this step as by doing so they risk your connection thus significantly increasing costs and stress.
We can also provide certificated flushing of previously connected mains to satisfy Water Authority requirements of stagnation prevention or flush and sample mains that may be suspected of stagnation.
